READINGS

I'll be reading at our rad new bookstore BOOKED ON 25th in Ogden on July 30, 2016 at 4:00 with fellow writers Kase Johnston and Shanielle Faith. I'm planning to bring a box of wine and some cups, and I need you all to help drink it. Stick around afterwards for the Ogden Pride Poetry Slam. Hear great poetry, or, if you're feeling spunky, you can enter here to read your own: http://www.ogdenpride.org/events/poetry/

If you can't get out that night and still want to catch up with Kase and me, check out his new podcast LITerally. I was the first guest! (As a devoted podcast nerd, I was beyond excited to get to be on one.) http://www.thebanyancollective.com/literally/2016/6/7/literally-ep-1-sian-griffiths

New Essay

My essay, "The Only Girl in the Known Universe," was selected to be a guest feature in Change Seven magazine. Here's the link if you'd like to check it out: https://changesevenmag.com/2016/07/06/the-only-girl-in-the-known-universe-by-sian-griffiths/

Writer Camp!

I'm thrilled to say I'm going to be joining my fellow editors at Barrelhouse for this year's Writer Camp, July 7-10, 2016. If you're interested in coming to write and (if you want) have your manuscript critiqued, then please apply: https://barrelhouse.submittable.com/submit/58655

Hope to see you there!

New Work in the Georgia Review, So to Speak, and Permafrost

It's been a long-term goal of mine to write something worthy of the Georgia Review, one of my favorite literary journals, and so it makes me especially proud to announce that my story "Sk8r" is published in its current issue.

In the past two weeks, I've also learned that my essay "Nakedness" has been accepted at So to Speak and will be in its spring issue, and my story "Slippers" has been accepted for publication in Permafrost, who published my poem "Persistence of Geese" a few years back.

Hooray for kind editors who give up their time to the slush pile and take a chance on writers!

League of Utah Writers Conference

I've been invited to present two talks at the League of Utah Writers Conference, which will be held this year at the Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan on Aug. 28-29, 2015.

Both talks will be held on August 29th. At 9:00AM, I'll talk about dialogue writing techniques that characterize, and at 3:30PM, I'll talk about using setting for more than backdrop. I'll be around to chat and sign books when not presenting. More details are available at the conference website: http://www.luwriters.org/roundup.html
